AV over IP Smart Mirror
When planning for a recent refurbishment, the Tokyu Sports Oasis Group, which runs a network of over 200 gyms throughout Japan, came to CYP with a very specific brief. Fitted in each studio would be multiple Smart Mirrors, which not only reflected the activities of the participant but would also display selected workouts along with other useful information.
The content would be created centrally and sent to each location via the internet. At each location, the content would be downloaded to a PC and then distributed to each of the Smart Mirrors as required. As each location has multiple studios on multiple floors, and each display can run up to 4K@30 4:4:4, HDR content would need to be streamed. Also, as individual studios had multiple screens fitted, the latency had to be minimal – less than one to two frames – with the control room at each location being, in some cases, a long distance away from the studios.
The perfect product for this type of installation, the CYP engineers specified our recently launched IP range, specifically the IP-7000TX transmitter, IP-7000RX receiver and IP-CS7 IP system controller.
Since installation, the system has worked flawlessly, with HD video and audio content now able to be streamed simultaneously across the copay’s locations. What is particularly useful for the Oasis Group is how flexible and user-friendly the system is. As each studio is updated per site, additional IP-7000RX’s are installed, which are ‘found’ by the IP-CS7 and easily configured. This ability to scale the installation at each site gives the Group total flexibility with its upgrade plans, whilst its clients can enjoy full 4K HD video from any Smart Mirror in the building.
